IMG_9030Block of the Month is starting this month!  This vintage block of the month will start and run for 6 months! The cost is $29.99 a month. The pattern includes the templates — That is amazigardenng, they are all cut out for you to use. We are very limited on this BOM so please register today if you’re interested!! Believe me if you’re into the vintage look this quilt is so so cute! Even those who don’t think they like vintage love this super sweet quilt. This is a sample of the templates and how easy it will be to create this amazing quilt!

IMG_8227Remember, Fabric Touching has been extended another day at Quilter’s Corner! That means Monday- Saturday we are now open for all your quilting needs. 10-5 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday. We are still open late on Thursday from 10-7 and Saturday from 10-3.

Amish with A Twist III Block of the Month is starting this month, but there is still time to get signed up!

Each month you will receive a pattern and all the fabric needed to make the blocks. This quilt included the appliqué, but you can choose not to have the appliqué and do pieced blocks instead. The binding is also included in this BOM. The BOM will run for 10 months, so it will be done in October. Finished quilt size is 98 x 107. Cost is $24.99 per month plus shipping and there is a $29.99 registration fee which is charged up front, but will cover the cost of the final months kit. Sign up today because we have limited kits for this project!

IMG_8281March BOM is for batik lovers and we can’t tell you how excited we are about this breathtaking quilt. The River Rock quilt is a 9 month BOM that is constructed using 10″ squares. The finished size is 77 ½” x 85″. Again, kits are limited for this BOM too. Cost is $29.00 per month. The kit will include all fabric for the top, binding and patterns. $34.99 registration fee covers the cost of the final months kit.

February 25th is the next $10 for 9  We have shorten up our hours we are open for Thursday nights but that still leaves time for plenty to get done.  Make plans to attend this little quilting day!

Spring Retreat

Reserve your spot now for April 30- May 2.  We plan on doing a fun Mystery table topper/wallhanging at this year’s retreat. The size will be 40 x 40 and needs 4 colors.  The pattern will be free when you purchase the fabric from us. You can work at your own pace and create a really fun piece. There is no extra cost to participate in the mystery event. Cost is $100 for this fun quilting event. We are starting to fill up, so please call now to make sure you get a seat! The deadline for the early bird registration is March 17th.

 

modernLast Call to start the Modern Quilt BOM. The first pieces have been mailed and the reviews are raving about the fabrics and the Tula Pink book. If you want to try something new with your quilting and like the modern look, then you better call today and get signed up. Each month we will send you enough fabric to make five unique blocks from the Tula Pink book. You choose the blocks and how to use the colors! The book also has many quilt lay out suggestions, so each finished project will truly be one of a kind! At the beginning of 2016, we plan to have a modern quilt show at the store to feature each unique quilt. This is the quilt Lori created, she had a ton of fun making the blocks with the fabrics we have! The cost is $19.99 per month and the Tula Pink book is purchased separately. Runs March-December

Downton Abbey Start: April-Decemberdownton

Second season of Downton Abbey fabrics features the Lord & Lady plus the Downstairs Downton Collections. We took those fabrics and combined them to make a Union Jack quilt. Very Downton Abbey and very fun! Here is a sneak peak of the quilt to give you an idea of how the Union Jack quilt is going to look. We still need to complete the borders. Please note in the sashing the Castle is fussy cut and added. We will be using all red, white and blues to make the fun blocks. It is really easy to do, it uses a template to cut the blocks. From start to finish it only takes an hour to make a block. Each month you will receive enough fabriDownton Abbey centerc to make two blocks. Again, it will be limited to the first 20 people, so please register now. Cost will be $19.99 a month and the finished size of the quilt will be 73″ x 91″.

 

 

 

 

Kim Diehl Whatnots Club Collection II Start: April – February

We fell in love with these Kim Diehl projects! We will be using the Heritage Hallow collection of fabrics she designed to make six cute wall hangings/table toppers ranging in size from 10 1/2″ x 11 1/2″ to 37″square.  Each project includes some traditional quilting patchwork and some have a sprinkling of simple appliqué. Here are two pictures of the fun projects ahead!! If interested, please call or email if you would like to be a part of the project. We’re putting together the over all cost and will have it soon.

March Classes and Eventspurse

March 14- Cell Phone Bag Class. This is a super easy bag to make! You will have the project done in no time. We will take youth quilters for this project. They must have strong sewing experience.  Class fee is $10 plus supplies.  Class will run from 10-2

March 21- T Shirt Qt shirtuilt Class. It’s never too soon to start thinking about that graduate in your life. A T-shirt quilt is the perfect keepsake gift that will be cherished for a lifetime. Bring your shirts and we will help you figure out the rest.  Class fee is $25 plus supplies. Class will run from 10-2

March 26 is the – 10 For $10  (Please note the change). For those of you who have never attended this event, you are missing out! It’s a fun day of sewing, come as you are, bring your sewing supplies, a project if you have one, and food to share. You would be surprised how much fun you have and what you will get done.

 

 

April Classes & Events

April 11th-Lace Embellishment Class. Lace is very popular this season!! Bring an item that needs a little updating with lace. We’ve got lots of ideas, last month we posted some things we did here is the link, but we have so many more ideas- denim jackets, sweaters, baby clothes. April 16th- Janome is to Love Me. This class will focus on using the many feet that came with your machine. Chances are you don’t use them because you don’t know what they do. The class is free to those who have purchased a machine from us.  For those who didn’t the fee is $10.  Again, we will be doing a small project so the supplies with the project will be additional.  Sign up today.  Class runs from 3:00-5:00.

Heart of South Dakota Shop Hop this week!

Paint Couture Classespaint 1

You’ve asked for it and they are finally scheduled! Paint courtier classes are going to be held on October 30th and again on November 6th.  Each class will paint a wooden 8 x 10 picture frame. You will learn the techniques that Lora uses to create amazing pieces! Cost is $40 and that includes 8 oz paint of your choice a brush and snacks. Each session will run from 6-8 pm.  Classes are limited so sign up today.

 Holiday Sewing             December 5 & 6

Mini Retreat! Here’s your chance to get the final touches of your holiday gifts and projects done. Cost is $45 for the two days.  We plan to get started at 10:00 am on the 5th and finish up at 3:00pm on the 6th. The price includes meals.

We are thrilled to announce the addition of a Hunter’s Star Class on Friday.  If you didn’t get a chance to take the class before here is your chance.  The new ruler that has been developed makes the process fun and easy! Cost will be $35 for the class and please pre-register.  This super fun event will be held in our building. We have limited on space so call or email to ensure you have a spot! Registration is $85 if you pay before September 17th. After the pre-registration date, registration goes to $100. purseCross Body Bag Class is September 20th, from 10-3. Bring your bag cut out so you can take full advantage of the purse lesson. This has been a very popular pattern and everyone loves this purse! We can create a kit for you and get it mailed before the class if needed. The cost of the class is $15 plus supplies. Michele Latt is teaching the class.

 

 

 

The Weathered Door has expanded their showroom presence in the shop!  We are thrilled to be selling Paint Couture products so that you at home can create your own masterpieces.  For those of you who are not that adventurous, Lora has the same amazing pieces she always has for sale.  Plus now if you have a custom piece you want her to do, you will be able to have a wider selection of colors, glazes and finishes. Classes are planned for the fall, please let us know if you would like to take one.

October 11-18 we are participating in this first ever for our shop event! The other shops are located in Aberdeen, Watertown, Brookings, Lake Preston and Huron. The theme is Christmas and each shop will provide a free pattern and Fat Quarter to make a Christmas quilt. Plus have kits for sale if you would like to collect them all and make a quilt or wall hanging.  If you get your passport stamped at each sight you will be entered into the grand prize drawing which is a Accuquilt cutting system with accessories!  Please mark your calendars and make plans to jump in the car and check out the shops. Here is a link to our blog post that shares the hours  and has more information about the event.  We will be having extended hours that week including Open on Sunday & Monday.

Christmas Block of the Month

There is still time to sign up for our Christmas Block of the Month. It starts now and runs through December. Each month you will receive 2 blocks to complete. One will be an applique block and one a pieced block. For those of you who have been afraid of applique this is a great opportunity to try something new and create a beautiful piece. Skill level is intermediate. Cost is $12.00 per month.  The finished piece is 59 1/2″ x 69 1/2″

This is a perfect beginning quilting class! This quick and easy table runner is perfect with 3 fabric colors.  Cost for the class is $15 plus supplies.  We have sewing machines for rent at $8.50 if you need one.  Please let us know when you  call to sign up if you need to use a sewing machine.  Bring a sack lunch for supper.

For those of you who have graduates it’s time to start thinking about getting started on that t-shirt quilt for a special gift. This class will get you off on the right foot.  Come spend the day working on your project and you’ll be surprised at how much you can get done! There is no pattern to purchase.  The class will help you with design and layout. Cost is $25 + supplies and includes lunch. Bring snacks to share if you would like.

 

 

Hunters Star Class         April 12   9:00-4:00

Patty Heintz from Pierre will be teaching a new method of doing the Hunters Star without inset seams. A new ruler has been developed andnifty 9 this tool makes doing the many points much easierand there are multiple options for design layout.  Cost is $30 + supplies.  Class level is intermediate. A minimum of 6 people are required for this class so please pre-register by March 21st.
